What a Christmas. We drove over to the Martins on Wed morning and just got back Friday night. On Wed, while I walked the doggies over to Blythwood, Jeremy, Ben and Emily went shopping for a ham and Xmas goodies. We had tacos for dinner on Christmas Eve. On Christmas day, we ate stollen for breakfast and had a Christmas gift orgy where everyone got oddles of stuff. Jeremy was especially pleased with his gaiters and gloves and I love my Palm Pilot case from Ben. Vince got loads of stuff, including these great blocks from Gene and Bette. His tricycle was defective, so hopefully we can get that replaced. Then after that, we took a nap in the car and then the Rozman's came over and we had ham, mac and cheese for dinner. Today, we packed, Bob and Katherine for their trip to China, us for our trip to DC. Jeremy and I went on a date to the Black Swan. Yummy!

Tuesday, December 23, 2003

Ohhh, what a social weekend. On Sunday, we were invited to dinner at Erdam and Eloina's place and had a German dinner of false rabbit and pickled cabbage. Vince and Victoria get along really well together. On Monday, we hung out with the Smiths and had lunch, walked around town and made Xmas cookies. Tonight, we went to see Ava and her granddaughter and had dinner with them. Vince was fabulous during dinner, didn't make a huge fuss and even got a compliment from a diner in the room.

Saturday, December 20, 2003

Yah, vacation has started. Invited Huang and his family over to our house and since they didn't want to drive at night, we had the roast chicken dinner for lunch instead. Then we went to the Millbrook Zoo.

Tuesday, December 16, 2003

We've been fighting a stomach bug for the past few days. Jeremy took the day off and we did some errands. We have also been wrestling with a neighborhood problem. I'll only say shared driveway and snow plowing duties. Vince was officially weaned on December 4, 2003 at about 1 pm in the afternoon. I wanted to wait until it seemed official, but it seems like there is no turning back now.

Sunday, December 14, 2003

Fun, fun day yesterday. We met up with Christine, Jane and George yesterday in NYC and we had a blast. First to FAO Schwartz which was packed, packed, packed and we spent about 2 hours there. Grandpa Bob got Vince a bunch of match box cars. Then onto lunch at the zoo in Central park and then the zoo which was great. I especially loved the poisonous frogs which are especially colorful and spring-y. Then we headed back to the apt and ate takeout Thai food and the kids played with their toys. Then we headed home. Looks like today will be the 2nd big snowstorm of the year.

Friday, December 12, 2003

We have been up at the Martin's house all week this week. Sunday for the African party, Monday for the Chronogram party, Wed for tutoring, Thrusday for dr appt and then Friday and Saturday for a trip to NYC with Christine and the kids.

Tuesday, December 9, 2003

Weaning is a bear. Especially nap time. I turn into a grouch meister when the nap doesn't come reliably. Argh! Jeremy is having dinner out tonight, so it's me and Vince for over 12 hours.

Monday, December 8, 2003

Snow, snow and more snow. Saturday got snowed in and we watched This Old House episodes. Sunday, we shoveled (well Jeremy shoveled) and changed out the tires to snow tires and we went to the Martins for Katherine's birthday and had an African themed party!

Monday, December 1, 2003

Made macaroons for Thanksgiving. They were a big hit. Saw all the cousins and had a nice time. Saturday, we went to the Martins to see Andy and Margarite. That was nice also. Sunday, Jeremy went over to install speaker wire. We are on our 3rd day of no TV. It'll be a challenge.

Monday, November 24, 2003

Erdam and Eloina came over on Saturday night and ate pot roast. Sunday we went to Roosevelt house and walked with Ruby and then went to Woodstock. Ate at the in-law's house. Very nice.

Sunday, November 16, 2003

On Friday, Carrie came over at 10:30 and dropped off her goodies for Katherine. We hung out until Jeremy came home at noon and we all had lunch together until we headed out to Red Hook. We met Ira Jaffe and he's very funny and did the sonogram. The baby looks good and seems to be a girl. That night, we ate at the Martins and pored over baby girl names. On Saturday, I went to see a movie with Carrie at the Galleria. Today we went to West Point and saw parachuters practicing. It was quite exciting.

Wednesday, November 12, 2003

Cindy came over today and Jeremy took 1/2 day off and while Vince slept, we all hung around and talked about work. It was so nice to see her and have some quiet time to talk to her and get her take on being an expat. We got so much in the mail today. My recorder came back recorked, we got a weird package from Ruth, we got Cooking Light and the New Yorker. No bills! Yah!

Sunday, November 9, 2003

Had a nice holiday potluck, invited about 30 people and 3 groups of people came. About the size of potluck that I had wanted. Also, Jeremy's parents and Dad was there too. A nice way to end the weekend.

Thursday, November 6, 2003

Wed night, tutoring happened, Bob had gone into New York to go to the Bard Festival Gala. It was the first day that Vince really requested items that were not in his view, like an egg at 2 in the afternoon and then a bath at 4. We both were very pleased with our ablilty to communicate with each other. Today we went to the playgroup and I was unusually social and introduced myself to at least 4 other moms. Then I came home, Dad was already here and we spent a nice afternoon together. In the evening, we went to the Eveready Diner.

Tuesday, November 4, 2003

Last night we had Jeremy's wonderful chili. Mmmmmm.... Yummy. Yesterday was so warm and inviting, today is rainy and dreary. Vince is sleeping, the baby is apparently not kicking either. Ugh.

Monday, November 3, 2003

Oh the 300 minute movie was the best! Pride and Prejudice was wonderful! I gave Jeremy a haircut while Vince was asleep and we had a blast. On Saturday, I went to recorder class and had a wonderful time. On Sunday, we went to hear the Colorado Quartet play in Olin and we had drinks at Joan's wonderful modern house and had a pizza dinner.

Thursday, October 30, 2003

We are trying to watch a 300 minute movie this week. Ha!

Tuesday, October 28, 2003

We went to the Volvo dealership for the 15K tune-up. Took 4 hours instead of 2, but we had a fun time meeting other moms and other kids. They did break the indicator on my gear shifter though. Ugh! Vince konked out on the ride home and then woke up as soon as we got home, so we got into an argument about whether he should continue his nap. But he won and we went to the playground and to CVS. Jeremy made a delicious calzone for dinner and Vince fell asleep at 7:30 on our evening walk.

Monday, October 27, 2003

Our first day back in our humble house. It is wet, wet, wet outside. Vince and I did a massive shopping trip to replenish our refrigerator. He crashed at 10:30 am today. I think with the time change and the excitment of the past week, he just really needed to take a morning nap today.

Sunday, October 26, 2003

Thursday, we spent the afternoon walking around old Montreal and went into the Latin Quarter. Ate dinner at a spaghetti factory-type place where they give you bibs. Friday, we met Sara, Marka's friend, a prof at McGill. Had a fun time hanging out with her kids. Drove to Burlington where we had sandwiches and Ben and Jerry's for dinner. Saturday, we participated in Burlington's halloween parade and went to see a granite quarry and the Ben and Jerry's factory tour. Today we saw Amy from MIT and her kids and went to the Martin's to pick up Ruby and spend the afternoon with them! A great trip. And great to be home!

Wednesday, October 22, 2003

Just cold today in Montreal. Vince and I went up Mont-Royal. He took off his shoes and mittens every chance he got. Had lunch from this takeout salad place and spent the rest of the day napping and watching TV. Jeremy disccovered that being a little tipsy helps with the networking at the conference. Ha!

Tuesday, October 21, 2003

Ugh, very rainy and cold today in Montreal. Vince and I spent some time walking the underground. We ordered weird dumpling that they serve in a soup of peanut sauce. For dinner, we went to the Movenpick. Vince had a great time and we had a fun time picking out dinner by strolling around this massive restaurant.

Monday, October 20, 2003

Drove to Montreal today. Spent the first few hours of the day in a whirlwind trying to clean the house up so I don't have to return to a filthy house. Started off at 11 am. Not bad really. Dropped off Ruby leash at the Martins (Vince fell asleep as soon as we pulled into Bard). Ate at Bob's Big Boy at the rest stop. Played for 40 minutes in Plattsburg at a neighborhood playground. Montreal is rainy and cold. We ate at a Lebanese place in an almost empty fast food joint in the underground mall. Vince was going crazy in the mall.

Sunday, October 19, 2003

Went to the bookstore this morning and spent, spent, spent. Gheez! What a few books can cost. Vince was absolutely neurotic about the train set at B and N. Then we went to the Morse house where the lady of the house had a dog cematery. Jeremy had his first cup of coffee in a month and he is feeling great!

Saturday, October 18, 2003

Heard the heartbeat on Thursday evening. The midwife said she heard movement too, so now I'm a little less concerned about not yet feeling the baby move. Today we went to get some maternity clothes in the morning and then in the afternoon, we hung out with Asuka and Carrie and fed them some lunch and went hiking on the rail trail. It was a beautiful brisk afternoonl This evening we tried Paul Newman's new vodka sauce on our ravioli. Yummy!

Thursday, October 16, 2003

Spent 4 hours in the sun this afternoon with Vince. Went to see Eileen, went to the student center to watch Cartoon Network and then hung out at the construction site.

Monday, October 13, 2003

The Trollope dinner was a bust. Katherine caught a cold. We went to the Dutchess Land Conservancy tour and it was really a lot of fun. Expecially the first on we went to with the terrier racing, the Devon cows and chickens. Vince woke up at 4 amd and then went to sleep again until 10 am so he was in top form at the first farm saying hello to one and all.

Saturday, October 11, 2003

Did a Walmart run today including Bob the Builder Knight of Fix-a-lot. I'm very excited to see it. Went to Adams. Spent about 1.5 hours at the park and met Bob, Kiki, Trudy and Julia there! Had Julia over for dinner while Bob and Kiki went to a Trollope dinner in CT. Very nice!

Thursday, October 9, 2003

We drove to Bard early Wed. morning and of course, of course, Vince fell asleep. So I dropped Ruby off and we went to Target. I woke him up and did 89 dollars worth of shopping there. Whew. After that we went to Eileen's office and spent the afternoon in the student center or asleep in the car. Jeremy's tutoring is going well, Eileen didn't come over, so it wasn't very exciting. Vince stayed up too late and was so grumpy when he went to bed last night. Just screaming his head off! Today we went for a walk in the morning on campus, to the playground and to the play group which was very sparcely attended.

Tuesday, October 7, 2003

Hmmm, another week has pass without logging. Nothing important is happening. Vince and I are a little sick. Runny noses. Doesn't help that we share absolutely everything. Tissues, forks, pot stickers...

Thursday, October 2, 2003

I'm getting a little bored staying at home. Yesterday was tutoring day for Lauren, so I went over to Bard and hung out. Vince was so cute at Bob's office, as we were leaving, he decided to go back and give Bob and Eileen a hug and a kiss. Very cute. We got a bunch of frozen salmon and halibut in exchange for tutoring.

Tuesday, September 30, 2003

October is almost here! Yikes! We are getting Vince all ready for Halloween by test driving his giraffe costume from Sheila.

Monday, September 29, 2003

This weekend we went to a wonderful baptism party of a friend of Katherine's. It was quite a shin-dig. A picnic outside under tents, but everything was pretty muddy. The food was delicious, duck and pig being the most memorable.

Friday, September 26, 2003

I forgot to mention that everyone is encouraging Vince's screaming during songs. Arg. The sing-a-long is axed.
Last night I made my falafel dinner at the Martins and had pie with Bob's students from his philosophy class. Very good pie. Vince loves parties with grown ups...

Thursday, September 25, 2003

Vince screams when we sing songs. The sing-a-long at the library was a disaster.

Monday, September 22, 2003

Days can pass before I update this blog. Did I mention that on the 18th, we heard the baby's heartbeat? Hmmmm.... just wonderful. This weekend I had a few hours off Vince duty and hung out with Carrie and Asuka and lazed the Saturday afternoon away. She showed me her gold tooth. Very pimpy. On Saturday night, we had my famous calzone, made more famous by trading in the canned pizza dough with Adam's fresh pizza dough. Jeremy made a beautiful and delicious creation. Sunday, we hung around the house, although we spent a lot of time outside (walking along the rail trail and at the playground). Then in the evening, Seth, our landlord came over and fixed the lawnmover.

Friday, September 19, 2003

Hurricane Isabel hit last night. Knocked out our power for 3-4 hours. Hoped for a "snow day" for Jeremy, but nope...

Thursday, September 18, 2003

Well, well, well. Vince got up at 9 this morning because of the late night last night. But thankfully, he went down for his nap pretty well.
I've had a bunch of stupendous accomplishments this week:

1. Beat out a bunch of moms to sign Vince up for storybook hour at the Pleasant Valley Library.

2. Remembered that trash night was Monday and not Tuesday, thus proving to Jeremy I was not losing my mind.

3. Finding a wallet at Bard and returning it fully intact.

Yesterday was a long day for me. Vince slept at 10 am on the way to Bob and Katherine's, so the afternoon nap was shot. So it was a long afternoon for me. Shannon and Lauren came over for the chemistry tutoring by Jeremy and Vince had a blast. He was so excited that even though we drove home at 10 pm, he didn't fall asleep in the car.

Monday, September 15, 2003

This weekend was really nice. Sometimes I think we are really bored and don't really do anything. Other times I think we are overbooked. On Saturday, we went over to Jonathon and Christine's house and played with Jillian, Mattie and Dakota. It was really enjoyable. Their house is sparcely furnished which made playing in the house a lot of fun. Vince actually played by himself in an upstairs bedroom while everybody downstairs was playing with the playstation. On Sunday was my birthday, the Martin's came over and brought over this delicious blackberry and peach pie. Wonderful!

Friday, September 12, 2003

We went to Li-hua's new house last night. She just moved in a few weeks ago. Her husband and son live in Long Island and she goes home every weekend to see them and become a soccer mom. Vince did eat a lot at her house, especially the soup. When he's done eating and wants to play, the soup starts dribbling out of his mouth.

Wednesday, September 10, 2003

Last night we went over to the Rozman's house to see Susan. She has not a bit of hair on her head and she looks so much like Carla now (not that Carla has no hair.) I guess you concentrate a lot on the face with the hair all gone. She seems so well and energetic now that she is on her break of chemo. She says the three days of chemo really kicks her ass. We had so much pizza and ice cream. It was a lot of fun. Vince was also screaming his head off, really, really enjoying himself. The moon was out in full glory and Mars was smack dab next to it. The weather is so wonderful.

Monday, September 8, 2003

Yushan showed up last night and we had a wonderful late night dinner. Vince was so excited to see him and loved having another person at the table, he wouldn't go to sleep until everybody had retired. This morning I had to face a mountain of laundry and dishes and trash in the house. The study is our disaster area. I really have to work on that! Bob is going to buy me a music stand for my birthday and Katherine gave me an old alto plastic recorder that they had lying around. I just have to get it recorked. My list of things to by that cost more than $30 is increasing rapidly. We're still trying to stick with our budget. It makes the week more fun for me actually (adds a bit of a challenge.) Vince is too young for the playgroup co-op and also there isn't any space, so maybe next year. We checked out the Millbrook training center and spa, which is really nice and active. There is a nice child care center where I left Vince for 10 minutes while I checked the place out. He screamed his head off. Just great!

Sunday, September 7, 2003

Wonderful day. This weekend has just been the most gorgeous weather. Yesterday I went to the Recorder Society of Conn. and had a wonderful 3 hours of friendly chatter and playing. Today we went hiking with the doggies and Bob and Katherine near Pine Plains. Then we went home to Bard and hung out for a little while. Now we are waiting for Yushan to come in from LA. Poor guy, he landed at 5 pm and now it is 8 already.

Friday, September 5, 2003

We had dinner at the Martin's last night. It's wonderful to see all the students back at Bard. It was also wonderful to let Ruby run off leash at Blythewood last night. She just careened all over the place, ran to students, ran around the fountain. Lovely.

Wednesday, September 3, 2003

Had a wonderful Labor Day weekend with my family. Donald flew into NYC on Wed and hung out with friends and came up to Poughkeepsie on Thursday. I showed him the house in Millbrook and then we drove with the Rubister to Bard. Took him to the Burrito Shack, but he said he needed some meat in his burritos. Oh well, I thought they were yummy. Then he took a nap and we spent the afternoon bumming around. That night, we had a hectic dinner at the Martin's. There were some guests there who had to catch a train and leave pretty early and we wanted to too, but we were all a little late in leaving. Ruby sat in the footwell of the car and we drove down, stopping a long time for gas in NJ, but made it home by 2 am. Vince let us sleep in until 8:30 the next morning. Hurrah! Then that evening we went to Kinkaid's, a seafood place in DC. It was nice, Dad babysat and we really enjoyed our 5th year wedding anniversary. And the ring! I got the ring1 Beautiful :). Margaret and Andrea came into town and we really enjoyed ourselves. We had so much cake.

Tuesday, August 26, 2003

Well, we are all a bit under the weather. I guess when I say "we all", I guess I really just mean me. Been staying at home and drinking a lot of tea.

Monday, August 25, 2003

What a weekend. On Saturday morning, we did our errands. Basically spent our whole week's budget by 2pm on Saturday. Hit the big stores, Walmart, Goodwill, the Chinese Market and finally A and P. Brought the Jeremy-meister shopping with me and we stocked up. That afternoon, he baked cupcakes (too much baking soda) and then another cake. We went over to Huang's house and played and played with their three adorable kids. Vince had a blast! The next day, Vince woke up at 6 am and we were off to a rough start. That afternoon we went over to the Bonser's baby shower which was held at Laura and Dave's house in Pleasant Valley prepared by Esther, Mark's wife. Vince had a great time, he had the sniffles by the time we left, so I hope we didn't make any of the other kids sick. I puked for the first time during this pregnancy on Sunday.

Friday, August 22, 2003

Spent a morning just drooling on the bed in the TV room while Vince whined and watched Bob the Builder.

Thursday, August 21, 2003

I'm always exhausted. Today we had our first prenatal exam in Rhinebeck so I went to Bard at about 10 to drop off Ruby. Then we went to the thrift shop to donate some glasses and pick up some shorts for Vince. Then lunch at Bard of leftover Chinese. This afternoon during Katherine's Chinese lesson, Ruby bit Trudy on the muzzle. Enough so that there were two red puncture wounds around her mouth. Apparently they got all tangled up together and got into some sort of argument.

Wednesday, August 20, 2003

Jeremy's work network is still down. It all started last week with a worm-virus thing that disabled IBM's servers for a little while. Then the largest blackout in North American history hit. This week the network is still down and they are doing a check of computers one by one to make sure they are all OK. According to him today is worse than yesterday. So we've been a bit bored and restless. Trying to think of new ideas to rev up our mundane lives. This morning we went to James Baird State park. It's pretty far to drive for a playground, but I'm getting bored of our regular Tribute Garden Playground. Today, there were a bunch of kids on bicycles and Vince seemed really interested in them. Gotta write "tricycyle" on the Xmas list.

Tuesday, August 19, 2003

We checked out the YWCA which is really amazingly affordable. Fifty bucks to join and pay as you go programs. The only problem was the tiniest pool I have ever seen outside of a Motel 6. Basically a 2 lane deal. And they have the schedule printed all strangly so I can't really make heads or tails of it. Vince got himself into some wet paint at the Y as he was going outside to check out the summer camp that was going on. It looked good. So I'm going to join a recorder group. I need to order a recorder. Also, I'm trying to figure out about this engineering test.

Monday, August 18, 2003

So on Friday, Jeremy drove to work and found fire trucks and guards standing in front of the IBM site. Apparently they had cordoned off the buildings in order to do a chemical hazard checks in all the labs. So Jeremy drove back and we had a wonderful day goofing off. Incredibly lucky as I was dreading the weekend just a little bit. So on Friday, we made cookies and went to the library and Vince took a really long nap. On Saturday, I picked up Susan at the train station in Poughkeepse and took her, Vince and Ruby to Bard while Jeremy drove Eva from her retirement home in Millbrook. Eva had fallen earlier in the week and seemed a bit out of sorts and tired. We went to a wonderful concert in Olin. I tried not to fall asleep. Then we went home (Vince, of course, was so excited to be out of my care, he didn't take his usual nap...) and planned for our dinner party. Jeremy and I are on this new budget, so we normally, on our budget-less behaviour, we would order out. But in order to preserve our budgeting this week, we planned a home cooked meal (fajitias), which actually came out to less than $6 per person. Johannas, Dakshi, and Todd came over and it was really, really nice, especially after Vince fell asleep after 9 pm. I'm secretly delighted to know that I'm not the only on down on living in the Hudson Valley. On Sunday we went to a farm near IBM to pick some peaches, blackberrys and blueberrys with Susan who had spent the night. It was nice, Vince really liked it. We drove to Beacon to see the DIA and found a cute little sandwich place to have takeout lunch. Then we dropped her off at the Beacon station and pretty much drove home to prepare for the evening concert in the Fischer auditorium. I thought I would fall asleep, but I didn't because it was so loud and actually very exciting. Todd, Ester and Caleb were there to switch babysitting during intermission. It was great to see the babies together.

Friday, August 15, 2003

Well we just survied the largest blackout in American history! And we are blaming Canada for it! Woo hoo!

Sunday, August 3, 2003

Vince was a fussmiester today. Went to the grandparent's house and had a little mini date. They bought Vince some toys and a swimmer thing. Dinner was a disaster with him fussing the whole time.

Saturday, August 2, 2003

Went to the Ulster County Fair with Asuka and Carrie. Saw pigs running and lots of livestock. Ate corn dog and funnel cake. Missed the beauty pagent. They decided to cancel it.

Thursday, July 31, 2003

Went to Red Hook today and Vincie got a black eye. Got pizza for dinner and came back really late!

Monday, July 28, 2003

Today we bought a bunch of food to replenish our fridge. Then we went to the Tribute Garden to play, but there were a bunch of bees hovering over all the sandy areas, so I pulled the screaming Vince away from the playground. Then a 3 hour nap! Then explorations around Millbrook and finally a chance to play in the playground. We discovered good news!

Sunday, July 27, 2003

We are back from Bisbee, AZ. Thank goodness.

Thursday, July 10, 2003

The highlight of today was playing with Andrew and Elena at the Red Hook playground and at the Bard Student Center. Her life is full of drama!
We've moved into our Millbrook house! Hooray. It's really beautiful there, I'm liking it a lot.

Sunday, July 6, 2003

What an end to the weekend. Vincie was a bit on the grumpy side today, so we were all tired from trying to amuse him. Katherine, Jeremy and Vince got haircuts from Jeremy, me and Jeremy in the morning. Then we picked up Ben and Nuha from the Poughkeepsie train station and went home for the Bob Martin Tenure cookout and party.

Saturday, July 5, 2003

Joined the Millbrook pool for $65 for the summer. We played in the sand and swam and got sunburned. They even have sand toys for communal use. Hooray.

Friday, July 4, 2003

Happy date night. Went to see Whale Rider at the Upstate; beautiful movie. Vince has a little bit of a fever so we slept a lot today. Dropped off a load of stuff at the house and Jeremy worked all day to pack us up and get us ready for the move. I can't believe we are moving. Woo hoo. Katherine surprised Bob tonight at dinner and made beet greens.
Ruby pooping
Ruby and Trudy playing.
Now that we're moving, I can't sleep.

Thursday, July 3, 2003

Vince loves to eat grapes :)
The day before the Fourth of July. We played pool all afternoon with a girl name Melissa. Went to the Millbrook house and went out to dinner with Ava at Les Beax. Saw the incredible outdoor pool complete with sand and playscape.

Wednesday, July 2, 2003

Donald is being kicked out of his dining room. We decided he should try to live in Los Altos Hills with Le Pei Jean!
The Red Hook Pool is $300 for the summer. Ugh!

Tuesday, July 1, 2003

Vince enjoying his first Starbucks
We had a wonderful week in California! It was cold and drizzling when we landed in LA. Maika and Brad's wedding was set in beautiful Palos Verdes and I wore my dress that Katherine and Bob bought me in Germany. I missed most of Bob's performance but got to see someone play the saw and a Krispy Kreme wedding cake. In Riverside we saw Emily and the Yan's and spent a few hot days playing around and having a grand time. Then on Friday we drove to San Diego and the weather was perfect. There we learned about the phrase; "You're slow, you're never going to make it to the party." We went to the beach. Just wonderful.

Sunday, June 8, 2003

Friday night, we went to a drive-in movie in Hyde Park (Finding Nemo) and Vincie puked all over Jeremy and his new car. Saturday, we drove to the Palisades Mall, which is really far away and then to Doug's birthday party on a boat and then to Asuka and Carrie's house for dinner. 250 miles driven in one day. Today we took it easy with a bunch of dog walks on campus.

Friday, May 30, 2003

So we are still looking for a house. Argh!!! The weather is getting me down, it's been raining in upstate NY all week. Over Memorial Day weekend, we went to DC and saw my family and Donald and all the Martins. We went swimming with Vincie and then went to Philly with Donald.

Sunday, May 18, 2003

Vince is still very tempermental. I'm hoping it's the teeth. We went walking with Asuka, Carrie and Philip on the Tivoli Bays trail. We walked to Tivoli and ate at a restaurant and walked back on a real trail. Asuka pushed the SUS with Vince in it over a bunch of rough terrain. Yesterday, Jeremy took me on a date. We saw "A Mighty Wind" and had dinner.

Wednesday, May 14, 2003

Well, my day was stressful. Vince must be teething and I'm trying to wean. It's been a whine-fest for 48 hours now.

Sunday, May 11, 2003

Found two ticks today, one huge one on Ruby and one on Trudy on her chin. We went hiking on the Appalatian (sp?) trail with Carrie and Asuka and looked at Philip's house which is very nice..

Friday, May 9, 2003

So this week we lost the house. We had agreed on a price of 256K, but the bank appraisal came in at 230K and Sean wouldn't lower the price. We aren't sure why the numbers came out so different. So we are at Bard for another few months at least. This month we are aready committed to a bunch of weekends out of town so I'm not sure when we'll look. Maybe in June when Vince is in day care a few days a week. I joined the Bard gym yesterday so we are going to start going swimming... Last night we went to New Paltz to meet Carla and to introduce her to Carrie. We ate at a really nice seafood place, really casual and tasty. New Paltz just elected a 26 year old green party candidate as mayor and the place seemed really nice.

Sunday, May 4, 2003

This weekend we went to Boston. Mainly saw MIT and the new facilities they had, the new swimming pool, the Strata Center and the new dorm. We went to Steer Roast for a few moments, but really it was too much to bear. On Sunday morning, we went to Harvard Square and milled around and saw Josh and Christine who had wonderful news.

Friday, May 2, 2003

Yesterday we saw Steve, Tienne and Max. Went to New York and had a wonderful day exploring Central Park... Today Vince is running a bit of a fever...

Monday, April 28, 2003

Today no one was here for dinner except Jeremy, me and Vincie. Vince poured a whole bowl of cold soup on his head. I bought a bag...

Saturday, April 26, 2003

It rained today and I wanted to do so many outdoor things, but it just wasn't possible. We went to the house and measured for the sun room, went to the bookstore where Vince spilled a bottle of powdered pink lemonade. Then we went to Rhinebeck and ate at Fosters, looked for a dress.

Friday, April 25, 2003

I'm writing this from the Red Hook library, my first public computer entry. Today Vince and I went to Goodwill and bought two coats. Then we went to Hannoford and had a blast driving their car shopping cart and sharing a chicken salad wrap. Then we went to the Children's Museum where there were a ton of kids in the park running around and Vince joined in. Very cute. Last night Vince talked to Dad on the phone. They had a real conversation.

Wednesday, April 23, 2003

Just went to Shawn Pratt's office to sign our house papers... We are about 6 weeks away from owning the house. Last night I made the most delicious falafel dinner. I'm impressing myself with my cooking.

Sunday, April 20, 2003

Vince enjoying a marshmallow bunny.
Asuka and Carrie came over and made Easter dinner for us, including an impressive Easter bunny cake.

Saturday, April 19, 2003

We went walking with Andy, Magurite, Bob, Katherine and the dogs on a mountain near Ellenville. Take a look at Vince playing in a stream getting all muddy.

Thursday, April 17, 2003

My cooking is getting better and better. I'm responsible for Tuesday and Thursday cooking. Tonight, I made stir fry pork with rosemary, red onions and olive oil. A salad with garbanzo beans, peas, red onions, feta, alfalfa sprouts, cucumber and avacado with a yogurt, cucumber and dill sauce. And then couscous and pita to round out the dinner!

Wednesday, April 16, 2003

I picked up Elena at the Rhinebeck car repair shop early this morning. It was so nice to be up and out by 7:30, I was in such a good mood, I didn't pay attention to where I was going, so I got lost on the way to Rhinebeck. Then I opened an account for Vince... We spent a good deal of time outside, I spoke with Jessica today. I thought she had lost her job, but it turns out she got another job in the same place.

Monday, April 14, 2003

Today I went to see Carrie's new Accord. Fancy, it has a navagation system that tells you how to get to different places and it has leather seats and everything. We went on errands and Vince especially loved the liquor store where they had a little cart you could drive around in...

Sunday, April 13, 2003

Beautiful today! We spent the afternoon hiking near Tannersville. The dogs enjoyed it too. There were old stone piles which were there as foundations of old houses. Had pizza from Village Pizza in Red Hook for dinner.

Saturday, April 12, 2003

It was forcasted to rain today and it seemed that way during the morning walk with the dogs. Jeremy and I are suffering through various brutal nights with Vince these days, so we were tired when we woke up this morning. Our plan for the day was to see the Children's Museum and go to the Vanderbilt Mansion and walk with the doggies. It turned out to be a beautiful day, and we had a wonderful time. In the evening, we made a delicious cold avacado soup with cilantro topping. Yummy, but very rich.

Friday, April 11, 2003

Went to the Danbury Mall with Carrie. I went into the Limited and Express!

Wednesday, April 9, 2003

I just learned that Kim Hamad, Senior House fellow is a prof at the Mechanical Engineering Dept at MIT! Woo hoo! Today I got my snow tires taken off by Vin. I'm hoping it won't snow anymore. Then we went to Shawn Pratt's office to start the house buying lawyer bit. Then I came home and watched a funeral from my bedroom window.

Tuesday, April 8, 2003

Jeremy is still home today. He, Vince and Bob are all sick. We watched Serving Sara today with Matthew Perry and Liz Hurley. It was really, really bad.

Sunday, April 6, 2003

Also the mouse problem in the house is getting much worse. Bob wants to rent some cats.
Bob, Jeremy, Vince and I and Trudi and Ruby went to Mohonk Preserve to go hiking. It was a beautiful day, clear and brisk. We walked and shared a lunch of bagel sandwiches. The tree limbs were still covered in a layer of ice and when the wind blew, they rattled against each other and made the most wonderful noise. Then we saw a wonderful German movie, Mostly Martha. I try and save all the food movies to watch with Jeremy.

Saturday, April 5, 2003

Went to the Danbury Mall where we rode the double high caroulsel!

Friday, April 4, 2003

We went to the Children's Museum today for two hours. By the end, Vince was a non-coherent walking, spitting machine. He was so happy that he was grabbing all the possible toys and dropping them as he ran around the place. Also signed Vince up for 2 days a week at Cinnamon Tree Day Care.

Thursday, April 3, 2003

Ack! We just found a baby mouse in bed with Vincent. I know Katherine loves the mice around here, but geez! (This mouse was super-cute, small and clean and indoors!)
Today I'm starting this blogger thing. We will see how it goes. We went to the Northern Dutchess Hospital play group and I met more people this time. I'm starting to remember everybody's name and what they do. Vince and I saw Eileen today and had a great time at on the 3rd floor of Ludlow. Went to the vet for Ruby for her annual check-up.

Monday, March 17, 2003

Monday, March 10, 2003

Today I had lunch with Chi, Asuka's mother and Bob. We ate at the faculty center.

Sunday, March 9, 2003

Vince is one today. We celebrated by taking his sport utility stroller out for a walk at Poet's Walk. It was very slushy but the dogs enjoyed it. I walked 10,000 steps today according to my pedometer!

Saturday, March 8, 2003

Vince's birthday party! We had a Texas-style chili cookout tonight with a bunch of friends and all 4 grandparents. Lots of good talk and fun. Emily decided today to move back to NY, so plans are being made about where she will sleep because almost all the beds are full here!

Thursday, March 6, 2003

A snowstorm came in today, so Vince and I stayed home and puttered. We are starting to work on day care stuff for Vince so I can start looking for work. We got the B.O.B. sport utility stroller today and tried it out on our evening walk. Plowed through the snow just fine.

Wednesday, March 5, 2003

Went out to dinner with Carrie and Asuka for her mother's birthday at this Italian place! Yummy. We had bread, butter and alcohol in honor of Sue! Hooray!

Sunday, March 2, 2003

Went to State College, PA, home of Penn State to see Sylvia, Bob's mother. We stayed in a little house next to the retirement home that she stays at that is very much like the home we are about to buy. Seth, Christine, George and Jane were all there and it was a lot of fun and a bit stressful and tiring also. Bob babysat the kids and we all went out and sat around at Starbucks and talked and talked, it was nice. Vince was very good in the car, we switched the seat around to forward facing, we also got him his very own cell phone.

Tuesday, February 25, 2003

Went to Wappingers Falls to see Carrie and we went to Wal-Mart!

Monday, February 24, 2003

Got up at 10:30, thought it was going to be a dreary day, but I got my butt out of the house. Went to Target and Val-Kill, home of Eleanor Roosevelt. Also went out to dinner with Carrie and Asuka at the Eveready Diner to see the pics of the house they put an offer in on! Woo hoo, very excited for them...

Sunday, February 23, 2003

Slow day today. Just hung around the house all morning. In the afternoon, we went to Melvin's concert and had dinner at the house.

Saturday, February 22, 2003

Wednesday, February 19, 2003

Carrie came up from Wappinger Falls and we went to Tivoli and Rhinebeck together and explored. Tonight we went out to pizza. We are thawing out of the big snow storm. Two of the three Volvos have sold. We will see about the other one tomorrow.

Sunday, February 16, 2003

Carrie and Asuka came over today. We spent the day cooking a carrot loaf and toll house cookies. The secret to the cookies is to have frozen flour.

Saturday, February 15, 2003

Today we had a wonderful day, I test drove some cars. The Volvo V40 and a Jetta. Then we went to the Poughkeepsie Galleria to buy Vince some new clothes. Then this evening we went to the Bard Valentine's Dance and had a swing lesson and listened to this 20 piece band play. Great fun!

Sunday, February 9, 2003

Ruby is home! So is Jeremy! Hooray!

Friday, February 7, 2003

I don't have my regular routines in place, so I have been lazy about getting my journal article in every night. (Sorry, dad..I'm fine, really :) ) Last night, I went to a talk at Bard about footbinding. Dorothy Ko gave the lecture and about 50 people showed up. She looked wonderful in a dragon pant and coat set. We had dinner at a Japanese restaurant in Rhinebeck run by Taiwanese people and it seemed like we were back in Taiwan for a moment. All the staff people were holding Vince and laughing. I had a great time. Jeremy was off to Austin last night. He drove to Manhattan last night and stayed in Bob and Katherine's apartment in the city and saw Ben for dinner. This morning we all woke up to snow, so he called from the airport to report runway delays.

Monday, February 3, 2003

Jeremy started his first day at IBM. We thought there was going to be an orientation, but there was nothing except getting his badge. Here at home we played and played for a while. This evening, a bunch of people who taught in China were here, we all ate Chinese food and talked and saw their pictures.

Sunday, February 2, 2003

Last night we went to see "Catch Me if You Can", our first real date since Vince was born. Very exciting. Today we went to the diner for breakfast, to the Rozman's for lunch and to Tivoli for a child-filled rumpus party.

Friday, January 31, 2003

Finally saw Austin Powers Goldmember last night. Woo hoo! Today we spent the morning driving around the center of Dutchess County looking for a house. A bit discouraging. We aren't sure what we are looking for exactly. Then we stopped off a Gymboree for a preview class, which Vince liked OK. Then in the afternoon I saw a doctor for my ears. Said there was no ear wax in the ears, but my infection hasn't cleared up yet, so I got another course of antibiotics, this time for 10 days.

Thursday, January 30, 2003

Kind of a grumpy day today. We got up on the wrong side of the bed... Anyways, we are looking for a house to buy, so we spent some time in a realtor's office sifting through listings. Turns out a lot of our coworkers have bought houses already. Sigh. We spent two hours in Bob's office with Vince and had a great time.

Tuesday, January 28, 2003

Today we went into Poughkeepsie and found a little neighborhood that we might like to live in. Also met Mia Farrow today. She was waiting for Seamus at the house. She held Vincie for a while. Then we took a walk on campus.

Monday, January 27, 2003

Tokyo for 2 days. Mainly saw Yuki and my mother's graduate school friend Hajimi. We saw the river on a cruise, gardens, Ginza shopping, the imperial palace gardens. Flew fome, Vince was pretty good... Today we did a quick driving tour and Jeremy looked at cars. We are all a bit tired and sick.

Friday, January 24, 2003

So on Wed, we went to breakfast with big brother at a big dim sum place and then we forged out on our own into town. We were meeting up with Jeremy's pal, Matt at the Central Station of the MTR. The subway is so elegantly arranged and clearly labled we had no trouble navagating the city. We took the tram up to the peak and saw the whole city below bathed in fog. Then we took a short walk around the peak and had lunch at a little cafe. Then we went to the Star Ferry and took it across to Kawloon and saw the bird and flower market. Then we ate a snack and off to find big brother's office. We made it there at 5 pm and saw his office full of toys and samples. Then we headed to a restaurant at 6 pm and waiting until loads and loads of people spilled in for dinner. Dinner started at half past eight. It was an extremely elegant dinner. That night we all fell asleep soundly. The next day, we went out with big brother's eldest son and he was a lot of fun. We saw the tallest building in Hong Kong and then to the IM Pei building, the Bank of China. Saw the convention center. Then saw the Hong Kong park and aviary. High end shopping center where Vince fell blissfully asleep during lunch. Then up the escalators that wound through town. Then back to the marina for a nap and back to a seafood restaurant for dinner. Got up really early to make it to the Hong Kong airport, actually ran to catch our plane. Vince fell asleep for most of the flight. Thank goodness! Now we are in Tokyo! Had dinner with friends of Bob and Katherine's at the best tempura place in Tokyo.

Tuesday, January 21, 2003

So last night as I was falling asleep, I was getting a sharp pain in my ear, so Linda, the housekeeper at the AMBASSADOR took me to the doctor at 10:30 at night, we eventually ended up at the hospital where I got a prescription of antibiotics. Turns out I have an ear infection. I'll have to get my ears cleaned out when I get back home. Today we flew to Hong Kong where we are staying with "Big Brother". We are staying at a marina of some sort. We have spent the afternoon sleeping recovering from the exhaustion of packing and saying goodbye to everyone.

Monday, January 20, 2003

Packed today and said farewell to the realtors, Helen, Debbie, Mr. Hong and Linda. Hmmmm... I will miss everybody. At the end of dinner, Helen reached out to touch Jeremy's beard, she was so curious to find out if it was smooth or rough, it was a funny way to end the evening.

Sunday, January 19, 2003

So the whole point of the barbeque was to make this huge mound of earth with a little cave in the middle and start a fire in it with sweet potatoes also in the center. Then the structure was suppose to collapse and the potatoes were to roast. It kind of worked and kind of didn't really work.
Helen and Ms. Liu cook on grills at ankle height. I think BBQ was inspired by the American habit; they all kept saying how American this was. But it was modified for Taiwan. Squatting at the grill, sweet BBQ sauce was used for the marinade.
Jeremy found this old bicycle leaning against a house and it had a baby seat in the front. Vince loved it and Helen tagged along for a ride. I freaked out and thought they were going to crash.
We went to an orchard and pick many, many buckets of oranges. My fingers were so sticky with the juice. The orchard owner told us the many different varieties he was growing and we all crowded around the trees for some good farming time! On the right hand side of the picture is Ms. Liu and Polo. They sure do know how to ham it up for the camera.
We had a great day today! We went to the house of a classmate's of Mr. Lin in the countryside. There was a nice guy from Toronto named Terrance who we met. He just moved into an apartment of Ms. Liu's. We left at nine and drove about 15 minutes. We went and picked oranges and then BBQed in the beautiful, beautiful sunlight. Jeremy and Vince went for a bike ride, Jeremy was the only one who got sunburned. There was also this big pile for sweet potato roasting. It really was a lovely way to spend our last weekend in Hsinchu. We will really miss this place. Tonight we are packing as the movers are coming tomorrow! Wish us luck!

Saturday, January 18, 2003

Big shopping day for us on the internet! Bought all our new winter clothes and computer equipment and had it shipped to New York. Went shopping this afternoon and bought a great outfit for me from SOGO and some glasses for Jeremy. Then tonight we went to dinner with Erdam, Eloina, Scott, Christine and Victoria to TGIFridays and the Ambassador hotel for dessert and coffee.

Friday, January 17, 2003

These are all our realtor friends from Taiwan sitting in our apartment eating this wonderful dinner. Helen cooked the dinner, she shopped and chopped and took command of the kitchen. Such wonderful food and wonderful company.
Vince's nanny is the sister-in-law of our friend Linda at the Ambassador Hotel. I left Vince with his nanny every morning for 3 hours. Vince is a tricky boy, he would drink out of a bottle when he was with her. He would always refuse a bottle from me or Jeremy. Vince's nanny lived in an apartment about 10 minutes from our place in Holland Village.
These are my friends from Japan. Their husbands all work for the high-tech industries in Hsinchu. Most of them have small children or are trying to have small children. We usually go to yoga in the mornings together.

Another busy day... Beautiful week here in Hsinchu. High of 72 degrees. Ha ha, in Fishkill, today's low was 1 F! We dropped Vince off today at the nanny's and spent the morning walking around and waiting for our apartment to be cleaned one last time. We then picked Vince up at 11 and said our goodbyes to the nanny, gave her a picture of Vince and a red envelope. Then we went to lunch with my Japanese yoga friends and stayed there for almost 3 hours. It was a lot of fun. Then we went home for a quick nap and then went to the realtors and ran into Droopy's family who gave us a mug with Droopy's picture on it.... So cute! Then we came home. Vince learned how to flush the toilet today and also he is starting to free stand for a few seconds now.

Thursday, January 16, 2003

Happy Birthday Ruby! Today was a busy, busy day. We got up, sent Vince to the nanny's and then I went to my very last Chinese lesson downstairs. Jeremy was upstairs making phone calls and arrangements. Then we went to UMC to drop off Jim's wedding photos and to thank them for their gifts. We ended up going to Jeremy's favorite dumpling place in the science park. I was so impressed. Something has happened during the past 3 days, but Jeremy's Chinese has made a quantum leap. His Chinese conversation is going so well and so fluid, he doesn't need a lot of prompting or reminding of words. It is amazing something really is clicking for him. Then Vince and I napped, Jeremy went to the science park and did errands. Then we went downstairs and played with Mr. Hong. Then Helen came over and cooked up a storm. It was such a wonderful dinner with lots of talking and laughing and cooking. They are all so sweet, they bought Vince horse necklaces, one gold on jade. And we talked and gossiped about kids misbehaving and fish that die.

Wednesday, January 15, 2003

Today felt like a busy day. We took Vince to the babysitter. Doris went to yoga class while I made arrangements for our upcoming trip to Japan and Hong Kong. Then we had Tepanyaki for lunch with our friend Helen at the Carleton spa. After lunch I made a quick trip the office while Vincent napped. When I came hme we visited with Hong Shen Sen, Liuo Shao Jie and company, and spent some time in the ball room playing. In the ball room, a very nice 5 year old girl invited us up to her apartment to play. Apparently she has more toys there. But Vince was gettng tired to we came home instead. We cooked some beef and onions, and shao bai tsai for dinner, and Man Fai joined us. Now we are going to watch Amile and go to bed. Oops, I hope it has English subtitles and not just Chinese...

Tuesday, January 14, 2003

Did so much today! Got the furniture from the rosewood maker in Taipei, it is beautiful. We went to the bank and closed our accounts and wired money back to our US accounts. I was very impressed with myself! I can do bank business in Chinese. Then we went to lunch at a Hakka place in Chubei with the metals and dielectrics group. Then I came home and did the regular routine and Jeremy went to work. Then we went out to dinner with the CMP group. Vince had a great time, and no naps! So many nice people :)

Monday, January 13, 2003

We are still a bit sick today. I went to yoga today and immediately felt better after I spoke to my Japanese friends. A bit of cold spaghetti for lunch and Jeremy came home today at 3. We are working out details of our move and trying to figure out who to see before we leave. We got some great pictures of us taken at the studio and I'm trying to post those up...

Sunday, January 12, 2003

Sick, sick, sick all weekend. Vince is well though. Jeremy made an amazing steamed chicken soup.

Friday, January 10, 2003

IBM and AMD are in cahoots! There, I said it. It is in all the papers today. Jeremy has pretty much stopped going to work. I think he'll go in on Monday, but then after that, people are leaving! I told the nanny, I never knew much she needs the gig, but she seemed to take it in stride. I also to Kiko at the gym and we also told the bun making people. Vince is starting to be tough to take care of at home. He always wants to be outside playing with kids. We spent the evening in the ball room, we did cartwheels and flipping and rolling. Just great!

Thursday, January 9, 2003

So today I told the realtors that we are moving from Taiwan. Ms. Liu was also very frazzled today as she was dealing with lots and lots of phone calls.

Wednesday, January 8, 2003

Today, I spent an hour downstairs in the lobby and I brought over Vincie's walker from the realtor's. He had a ball. We talked with Olivia's mom, with Susan and Zephen and whoever just stopped by :). We are also planning our trip to Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Tuesday, January 7, 2003

So we got the big announcement today about our future AMD plans. As it is all top secret, I will not reveal it here until it is "official". Today, Jeremy came home early because he's ill again. There is a wave of colds going around Hsinchu. We went to the Hsinchu Hospital to get Vince's green thumb looked at by a dermatologist. She took one swipe of it with a blade and all this green goop came out and gave us a prescription for antibiotics and some topical cream. She also gave us some ointment for Vince's drool rash around his mouth.

Monday, January 6, 2003

Today we came back to Hsin-Chu, officially ending our long vacation. I (Jeremy) have been at work only 2 out of the last 6 weeks, so it has been a long break. My Father and Brother are headed back to the states, my Mother left for Ghana to build a middle school a few days ago. The day was not too eventful. We took Vince to see the doctor because he has a wierd green thing in his thumb. It looks like a cross between a splinter and a wart, but it is bright green. Anyway, the Doctor told us to see a dematologist at the Hosital and gave us a referal. But the most exciting part of the day was parking our car near the Doctors office. We saw evidence that the enforcement of illegal parking has picked up (chalk licence plate numbers and phone numbers left when cars are towed) and so drove around the neighboorhood looking for legal parking. We found this huge tall narrow building with six large mechanical doors on the front and signage indicatimg you could park there. We figured out it was an automated mechanical parking garage, and after talking with a nearby attendant, we drove up, the door opened, we droved the car into two little slots, and following the directions of a chinese computer voice, we got out of the car and walked out of the building. The door closed behind us, and once we had entered the licence plate in the computer, the car was turned sideways, and lifted high into the air, and put on a shelf with a bunch of other cars. It seems that they can stack the cars 20 high on either side of the narrow building. With 6 doors in a row, this amounts to 120 cars parked in the space it would normally take to park 18 cars. It only cost us 20NT (60 cents) for having the car there about 40 minutes, making it the most economical amusement we have had in some time. I want one for our house, but I guess since we don't have 180 cars it would be a waste.

Sunday, January 5, 2003

On Friday, we arranged for snacks on the bus that was going to head from Hsinchu to Taipei for Bob's concert. The bus we rented was a new 2003 bus, run by Mr. Ding on the 9th floor of our apartment building. It had airplane-style seats, karaoke and was a double decker. We got to the Taipei University for the Arts and milled around for a while. When it was clear that Vince was going to be fussy, they led us to the control room on top of the auditorium. Vince was even too noisy there, so we left to find another room. The weather was so cold and the lobby of the auditorium was outside, but we did manage to find a VIP room with heat. There, Jeremy and I alternated taking care of Vince and there were lots of people around to help with him. We stayed until quite late and I went back to the apt with Ben and Bob and Jeremy went back to Hsinchu with the busload of people. The next day, Jeremy drove up and we went to Ding Tai Fung, then to the silk market, then a nap and then the Shilin night market. The next day, Sunday, Bob and Ben went to the National Palace museum and we had a quiet day at home. Vince is eating a lot and sleeping a lot. We noticed that he has quite a large splinter in his thumb, it's a little weird looking with a green sort of discoloration. So we went to a Taipei doctor. It was pretty impressive how mobbed the place was. But we had an appt and made it in and out of there in less than 30 minutes. Had dinner with Lan-gou, a friend of Bob's and had the most wonderful ramen-type noodles. So chewy. Then we went to Bob a loos again for ice cream. During the weekend we also saw My Fair Lady and Roman Holiday!

Thursday, January 2, 2003

Thursday, January 2, 2003

On Tuesday, we drove to Taipei with the cello and Ben, Katherine and Bob took the train in and saw the sights. We walked around with Vincie and had a dinner of noodles in a buffet place and had ice cream at Bob-a-loo's. I went to bed early. Ben partied with a New Zealand ex-pat lady. The next day, New Year's Day, we went to see the furniture place and bought two stools, Jeremy's parents bought a dining room table, then we had a delicious seafood lunch. Then we went to see and old-style mansion that they had moved from the middle of Taipei. It was really quite beautiful, large with lots of courtyards. Then we went to have Yunan food with Charlotte's friend Angela. Today we dropped Katherine off at the airport so she's on her way to Ghana and then drove back to Hsinchu.
